What is Avetta®?

If you’re a contractor or supplier, you may have been asked to become Avetta certified, but you may be wondering “what is Avetta?” and “how do I get started”?

The companies that require Avetta® certification are referred to as Avetta clients. Amazon, for example, is an Avetta client so if you wanted to work with Amazon, you would first need to sign up in Avetta and complete a series of requirements.

This cloud-based platform is designed for managing risk within supply chains. By focusing on supplier compliance and prequalification, Avetta helps their clients mitigate risks associated with their contractors and suppliers. It offers tools for evaluation, monitoring, and analytics, ensuring that all partners in the supply chain adhere to the highest standards of safety and compliance.

What is Avetta Certification?

Being Avetta certified means that a contractor or supplier has successfully met the compliance and safety standards set by Avetta. This certification process involves registering with Avetta, providing necessary compliance documentation, undergoing an assessment to verify adherence to relevant standards, and then being subject to continuous monitoring for ongoing compliance.

However, being Avetta certified is only the first step, and it doesn’t necessarily mean that you’re certified to work with a given. After signing up, contractors will need to connect with the client they want to work with and set forth in a series of grading requirements, which Avetta will need to review before the contractor is certified with that specific client.

How Do I Get Avetta Approved?

To get Avetta approved, you’ll need to register and complete a detailed profile on Avetta’s platform, upload required documentation, and comply with client-specific requirements. Here’s a step by step breakdown:

  • Create an account and complete all sign up information
  • Pick an Avetta client/company you would like to work with

  • Then, Avetta personnel will review the list of criteria and provide you a grade

The cost for Avetta certification includes an annual enrollment fee and a one-time setup fee.

Documentation You’ll Need

Required documentation varies but typically includes Certificates of Insurance (COIs), OSHA 300 Logs, tailored Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) programs, and Experience Modification Rate (EMR) letter.

Certificates of Insurance (COIs) demonstrate proof of insurance coverage, specifying effective dates and coverage details. OSHA 300 Logs are vital for U.S. based companies, as they record work-related injuries and illnesses, providing a clear picture of a company’s safety history. Tailored HSE programs are crucial as they reflect a company’s dedication to maintaining safe work environments and adhering to environmental standards.

An EMR (Experience Modification Rate) letter, issued by your insurance provider, details your company’s EMR, a metric reflecting the financial impact of past injuries and your company’s associated risk level. This number is crucial for assessing how your past safety record influences current insurance premiums and risk assessment.

The above documentation is fairly standard, but requirements will vary with each client. Once you get signed up in the Avetta platform and connect with the client you want to work with, you’ll learn which documentation and grading requirements are necessary.
