Cemex sign on building

Starting September 8, 2025, Cemex is requiring all prime contractors and general contractors hiring subcontractors on their behalf to use the Subcontractor Management feature in Avetta Connect™. This shift will change how you track subcontractor compliance—and not preparing now could jeopardize your ability to work on Cemex projects.

Why Cemex Is Making the Change

CEMEX is a global building materials company headquartered in Monterrey, Mexico, and is one of the largest producers and suppliers of cement, ready-mix concrete, and aggregates in the world. Founded in 1906, CEMEX has grown into a multinational leader in the construction industry, operating in more than 50 countries with a strong presence across the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia. The company is known for its commitment to innovation, sustainability, and providing high-quality building materials that support infrastructure development, urban growth, and renewable energy projects. CEMEX plays a vital role in supplying the essential materials for highways, bridges, residential and commercial buildings, and large-scale industrial projects, making it a cornerstone of global construction and development.

Cemex has long emphasized safety, transparency, and risk management. By using Avetta’s Subcontractor Management solution, Cemex gains visibility not only into its direct suppliers but also into the subcontractors those suppliers hire. This change creates a unified compliance network that:

  • Improves Safety Oversight: Cemex can confirm every worker on their projects meets compliance standards.
  • Reduces Risk: Gaps in subcontractor compliance can expose Cemex and its primes to liability and project delays.
  • Streamlines Communication: Everyone—Cemex, primes, and subcontractors—has access to real-time compliance data.

What Cemex Prime Contractors Need to Do

Avetta will soon reach out to confirm your current list of subcontractors. Here’s what to expect and how to prepare:

  1. Verify Your Subcontractors: Provide Avetta with an up-to-date list when they contact you.
  2. Connect Your Subcontractors in Avetta:
    • Go to NetworkFind Suppliers.
    • Search for your subcontractor and click Connect.
    • Choose the appropriate Cemex line of business and send the request.
    • If you can’t find a subcontractor in Avetta, click Invite Supplier and complete the form.
  3. Track Compliance Statuses: Once the subcontractor accepts your connection, their details will appear in My Subcontractors. Monitor this regularly to ensure compliance.

If you have more than 10 subcontractors, Avetta can help manage bulk connections—email subcontractorspecialist@avetta.com for assistance.

The Benefits of Subcontractor Management

For prime and general contractors, this feature offers major advantages:

  • Transparency: View compliance profiles for all connected suppliers and their subcontractors.
  • Control: Quickly identify which subcontractors are qualified and compliant.
  • Real-Time Alerts: Receive instant notifications when subcontractors’ statuses or tasks change.
  • Efficiency: Reduce surprises and avoid last-minute compliance scrambles before critical project milestones.

The Risks of Waiting

Failing to connect your subcontractors before the deadline can:

  • Delay Cemex approvals for your team or subcontractors.
  • Cause scheduling setbacks or canceled work.
  • Create compliance gaps that may threaten future contracts.
