Keeping up with the latest safety and compliance standards is crucial for contractors working with PG&E. Recent updates to the ISNetworld® platform have introduced new training requirements, specifically within the WRK (Worker Readiness & Knowledge) section. These changes are designed to streamline training management and ensure workers have the necessary knowledge for safe and efficient operations. This article outlines the key aspects of these new requirements and how contractors can effectively meet them.
PG&E and ISNetworld® Relationship
PG&E (Pacific Gas and Electric Company) and ISNetworld® have a relationship centered around safety and compliance in the energy sector. ISNetworld® is a contractor management platform that helps companies like PG&E manage their contractors’ safety and compliance records.
For many years PG&E has used ISNetworld® to ensure that its contractors meet safety standards and regulatory requirements. By leveraging the platform, PG&E verifies that contractors have the necessary training, certifications, and safety performance metrics, which helps mitigate risks and promote a safer work environment. This relationship reflects the importance of maintaining high safety standards in the utility industry, particularly given the potential hazards associated with electrical and gas services.
PG&E utilizing WRK in ISNetworld®
PG&E contractors may have received many email notifications and on-screen alerts over the past few weeks regarding WRK. WRK (Worker Readiness & Knowledge) is the updated training tool section within ISNetworld®. This tool will eventually house all training and qualification tools (OQ, TQ, Worker Acknowledgement tools) but the first phase houses Online Trainings.
Prior to utilizing WRK, online training assignments for PG&E in ISN were assigned through the Project Training Assignments section of the account. Individual training assignments could be delivered to employees by an administrator under that section.
While WRK is being released in phases, it’s already clear that this is an improvement to the previous method of online training. Additionally, WRK will promote ease of assignments, clear and expedited reporting in addition to streamlined employee training management.
PG&E Training Documents
Contractors and suppliers who are only connected with PG&E in ISNetworld® have likely never encountered a requirement to submit completed training documents for review. With the rollout of WRK also came the requirement of Training Documents for those connected with PG&E. Training Documents are in the Review & Verification (RAVS) section of ISNetworld®. If your company is required to provide these, the section will be orange and reveal a clickable link in “My To-Do List”.
What are Training Documents in ISNetworld®?
Many clients which utilize ISNetworld®, such as PG&E, SCE (Southern California Edison), Georgia Pacific, and Nucor, require evidence of specific training topics. The training must have taken place within the last 3 years. Examples of evidence can be submitted in the form of rosters, safety meeting minutes, certificates or toolbox talks.
