PG&E® has recently added a new request to their required documents and programs in ISNetworld®. You’ve likely seen PG&E® is known for taking safety seriously. The safety of their clients, employees and vendors are always top of mind. If you’re a PG&E® preferred vendor, you’ve lkely seen their recent request for the request for PG&E® Driving Safety Program to be uploaded to your ISN® profile. Since its rollout, we’ve helped many preferred vendors meet the new requirement and maintain their compliance by supplying them with this program to adapt to current HSE practices.

Driving is an essential part of our daily lives, and it is crucial that we ensure our safety and the safety of others on the road. Unfortunately, accidents on the road are common, and they can result in significant injuries or even death. This is why driving safety programs are essential.

Driver Education

Driving safety programs are designed to educate drivers on the importance of safe driving and to provide them with the skills necessary to prevent accidents on the road. Driver handbooks and safety programs specific to your company should be understood and implemented amongst all employees. They may be mandatory for certain professions or voluntary for individuals who want to improve their driving skills.

The primary goal of driving safety programs is to reduce accidents and fatalities on the road. They do this by teaching drivers about the dangers of reckless driving and the consequences that come with it. These programs also provide practical training on how to drive safely, including defensive driving techniques, following safe distances, and the importance of wearing seat belts.

Another critical aspect of driving safety programs is education on the dangers of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol. This includes information on how alcohol and drugs can impair a driver’s judgment, reaction time, and vision, making it much more likely for them to cause an accident.

Driving Safety Program Requirements

Driving safety programs may also cover topics such as distracted driving, road rage, and the importance of vehicle maintenance. Distracted driving is a significant cause of accidents on the road, and these programs teach drivers how to avoid distractions while driving, such as using cell phones or eating while behind the wheel. Road rage can also lead to accidents, and these programs teach drivers how to remain calm and avoid confrontations while driving.

Finally, driving safety programs often include practical training sessions where drivers can practice their skills in a controlled environment. These sessions may involve driving simulators or on-road training with a certified instructor. The number of incidents and fatalities that take place on our roadways is quite shocking! California DMV reported nearly 4,000 deaths in 2019 alone! Businesses are taking these numbers seriously and ensuring that their vendors share in their safety values.

Driving safety programs are critical to reducing accidents and fatalities on the road. They provide drivers with the knowledge and skills to drive safely and avoid dangerous situations. Whether you are a new driver or have been operating for years, taking driving responsibilities seriously is vital to safety.
